Family Tree Prints is a new service that helps you create custom family tree charts for you to download and print in ten minutes. Jane from Family Tree Prints reached out to me and asked me to try creating a complimentary chart in order to share my experience. I was impressed! There are many features that allow you to customize your chart. I have been frustrated in the past with the way charts turn out when printed from genealogy software programs, so I know there is a real need for this service.
I asked my four-year-old daughter if she wanted to help me create a chart. She loved sitting down at the computer with me, on my lap, and telling me where to click. She chose the “bright and bold” collection.
We chose the color scheme “golden sunrise” and imported our tree from FamilySearch.org. You can also upload a gedcom.
Next we chose my daughter as the starting person. After that, we downloaded the high resolution image, printed it at home with our inkjet printer, and framed it in a pretty white frame that I picked out at Wal-Mart ($4!).
I love how it turned out. The colors go perfectly with the princess quilt my mom just finished for my daughter’s bed. We looked for the perfect spot to put the fan chart, and decided on a green shelf that she hangs necklaces and things on. We also put a picture of her namesake ancestor and her my grandparents on their wedding day.
Some of the cutest charts (that I tried to convince my daughter to choose) are the themed charts. They fit perfectly into the modern sleek style of many children’s rooms these days! I thought they were very imaginative!
We were quite impressed with the ease of making your own charts and the modern designs. I hope you try it too! If you do, you can receive half off your first chart if you do it before October 15th with the promotional code below.
Go to Family Tree Prints and use the promotional code FAMILYLOCKET to receive 50% off your order. The code is valid through October 15, 2017.
