About the Authors
Nicole Elder Dyer is a professional genealogist specializing in Southern United States research and genetic genealogy. She is the creator of FamilyLocket.com and the Research Like a Pro Genealogy Podcast. She co-authored Research Like a Pro: A Genealogist’s Guide and Research Like a Pro with DNA and is an instructor for the study groups of the same name. She lectures at conferences and institutes including the Salt Lake Institute of Genealogy and Institute of Genealogical and Historical Research. Nicole holds a bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University in History Teaching. At Family Locket Genealogists, Nicole is a project manager, editor, and researcher.
Diana Elder, an Accredited GenealogistⓇ professional, author, and speaker, has eighteen years of research experience and holds a credential in genealogy research from the International Commission for the Accreditation of Professional Genealogists (ICAPGen). Her area of expertise is the United States Gulf South Region, which includes Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas. A Magna Cum Laude graduate from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor’s degree in Education, Elder combines her roles as a lifelong learner and educator. She co-authored the bestselling book, Research Like a Pro: A Genealogist’s Guide and Research Like a Pro with DNA. She also established the “Research Like a Pro” study group and e-Course to facilitate practical learning. She regularly contributes research tips to FamilyLocket and co-hosts the Research Like a Pro Genealogy Podcast with Nicole. She is a frequent speaker at conferences, workshops, and institutes. A member of the National Genealogical Society, the Utah Genealogical Society, and the Association of Professional Genealogists, she specializes in U.S. and DNA research, as well as genealogy consulting & coaching.
