Hello to both, I’m so unhappy because nothing helps with my European Only search. I’ve written before & hope I’ll afford your books. I don’t need any American help. My parents & myself & 2 siblings came to US in 1950. I need all help from the European side Austrian, Polish, Italian & German & probably countries that wars changed. On 23 and Me my 100% DNA European is True. Any information websites or books is so much appreciated. I am old & in bad health. Sincerely, Anna Thomas Mesa, Az

Hi Anna,

With your European heritage, we recommend that you use My Heritage, which has many European records. Also, be sure to download your DNA from 23 and Me and do the free upload on My Heritage. You’ll get different matches and for a small fee can unlock many very helpful tools on that website.

As for researching, the FamilySearch Research Wiki has many helps with European research in each of your countries of origin and FamilySearch also has many free collections that can help with your research. Our book can help you with a process to tackle your research projects. We use examples from our United States research, but you can apply the steps to research in any locality.

Hi Ladies,
Recovering from outpatient surgery and just finished episode 54. I heard you talk about people uploading images to help organize the lines of their ancestors and DNA matches. With my tree at Ancestry and the addition of MyTreeTags, I would suggest and plead really that they use a tag instead. The Uploaded images appear as picture hints and are somethat annoying when I have 50 new hints and it is all pics of a flag or ship. Just a suggestion. There are many types of tree tags and the ability to customize. A win-win for all. On the topic of DNA, I use Jonny Perl’s http://www.DNApainter.com alot and build project DNA trees within the WATO tool there. He also has a new tree tool for gedcoms as well.

Hi John,
These are tried and true methods – I love to see the family connections mapped out. Lucidchart is my favorite tool to use in client research. It’s especially helpful when working with new/unfamiliar names, dates, and locations.
